In November we were able to go to the Omaha Zoo for a few hours, and thought it was amazing, although we were only able to visit the desert dome with the kingdoms of the night exhibit and the tigers and bears. So at the beginning of April, we planned a trip back for the whole day and then a visit with my Grandpa in Lincoln.

The day started with my finding out I was pregnant. Evalana slept the whole way to Omaha.

We got to see the entire zoo this time, and I think we were there 10am-3pm. It really is a great experience, well worth the drive to Omaha if you can make it. Although just skip the elephants part of the Omaha Zoo and go to Africa at the KC Zoo instead. And, actually, almost everything at the Omaha Zoo is indoors, so it'd even be great to go when it's colder outside and not so busy there. And, with our KC Friends of the Zoo pass, all three of us got in for just $11.50.

After the zoo we had planned to spend the night with my Grandpa, but Evalana was pretty busy there, and we had more afternoon time with him than we had expected, so we went ahead and made the drive home after dinner. Evalana was so tired she slept about two hours, and then Joshua did a great job of entertaining her for the last hour. Great day at the zoo.

Last weekend Papa, Gigi, Aunt Kristen, and Noah came to Kansas City, and we spent all Saturday at the Omaha Zoo together. Papa and Gigi rented a minivan so that we could all ride together, and the kids did great on the car trip. They were also full of energy the whole time we were at the zoo. I'm so thankful we were able to take this little trip together.

Monday morning we drove from La Quinta to San Diego to go to the zoo with Tompa and Grandma Nancy. The kids napped most of the way, and most of the drive was beautiful.

The zoo was a little crowded since it was President's Day, but it wasn't too bad. We started with a ride on the Skyfari.

 

 

Lazarus said his favorite part of the zoo was the elephants and the fish.

Evalana said her favorite animal was the takins. My favorite was the okapi and pandas. Daddy liked the rhinos.
We loved our time at the zoo. They had animals and plants all over the place, and they had many unique animals we'd never seen before. As far as a zoo experience, though, i was surprised to find that we prefer the Omaha Zoo.

My cousin Amanda was getting married in Omaha, so we decided to make a visit to the zoo before the wedding. We didn't have nearly enough time there to see it all, but we were so impressed. The zoo was amazing--the way they made you feel like you were actually there in the desert or swamp or cave or wherever. Also, a lot of it was inside, which was nice since it was so cold out. We highly recommend going if you get a chance.

Saturday the 13th we got up early and went to Omaha for my cousin Abby's wedding, but that didn't start until 4pm, so first we went to the zoo, and Mo and Grandpa Greg joined us there. Joshua and i were pretty tired by the time we got home that night, but we all had a great day.
