this brain

evalana amazes me with the way she remembers things. even when we've read a book to her just once, the next time we read it, she corrects us if we mess up a little word like "the" instead of "her" or some other word that doesn't even change the meaning. joshua and i pray that we give her what she needs to learn all she can.

Papa's heaven day

On the morning of January 29th, Papa ran into the arms of Jesus. Daddy came home, and he picked up a cake, balloons, and flowers to celebrate Papa's arrival into Heaven.

Mo, Evalana, Lazarus, and I took a trip to the zoo in January. The weather was decent, and Evalana was having a hard time with Daddy being away since he'd been with sick Papa in Arkansas all week. I'm so glad Joshua was able to spend the time there. Lazarus slept in the wrap under my coat pretty much the whole time. I think the animals were a little surprised to see all the visitors during the winter.

Lazarus sleeps well when he's being held. I used to be able to sometimes set him down for a minute to transfer him to the wrap.

January visit from Papa and Gigi

January 8th, Papa and Gigi came for a visit because Joshua bought tickets to the Chiefs playoffs game. Looking back on it now, this was a very special weekend. Saturday Papa and Daddy took Evalana to Bass Pro Shop, and Papa bought Evalana a fishing pole, which Evalana remembers every time we pass Bass Pro Shop, "That's where Papa took me! And he got a fishing pole for me! We saw fish there with Papa!"

Joshua, who hardly ever takes pictures, got a couple pictures of him and his dad at the game. We're so glad he took those pictures and that they were able to go to the game together! I'll have to stick them on here soon.

Aunt Michelle's tummy

Aunt Michelle is in Las Vegas and got food poisoning last night. I told Evalana, and she said, "Oh, let's make her some tummy tea!" I told her she's out of town. Evalana said she can go to a hospital if she needs to. I said we should pray for Aunt Michelle. Evalana said, "Father Jesus, thank you for Aunt Michelle. Please help her to feel better. Amen! I bet Aunt Michelle feels better now!"

Evalana tripped today and said, "Ow, i hurt my foot waist!" I love that this is what she calls her ankles.

Evalana: "Oh that is so loud. I hope it doesn't wake up Lazarus." She looks out the door. "Daddy, Daddy, that truck is playing music! There is music coming from that truck!" She thought it was so neat and doesn't even know what the ice cream truck really does.

new windows

What do you do when you have a newborn during winter? Replace the windows!
Greg helped Joshua put in our new windows by 12/31 so we could qualify for the tax refund.
The new windows are much better--let in a lot less heat, cold, and sound, but they were so much more work than i was expecting, so we still haven't finished them. We have to get new trim on the inside, fix the trim on the outside, repaint the outside trim, paint the inside of the windows, paint the inside trim, put up screens, and get new curtains/blinds. So I expect it'll be quite awhile before we ever finish this project.

Christmas

Since I'm now six months late, i thought i should attempt to see if i can do a little blog catch up. Grandma Mo's back in town and took Evalana, and Lazarus is nursing.
