Purim

This past weekend was our first attempt at celebrating Purim. Evalana was very excited because she really likes the story of Esther, and this holiday is all about Esther. We didn't do as much as we could have, but maybe when I don't have a sinus infection and there isn't so much great snow to play in, we'll do more. Part of the celebration is that the kids are supposed to put on a play while we read the book of Esther. Here's a bit of what we ended up with; we had fun with it.

haircut by daddy

Lazarus's hair was getting pretty long, so Daddy gave him a quick cut on Sunday. Evalana was our videographer for the event :-)

late nights with a cute boy

In January Lazarus stopped napping. But every once in awhile, he falls asleep in the car, and then it takes us awhile to get back on a normal bedtime schedule. So we have had some late nights with him. Sometimes i fall asleep in the chair in the living room while he watches his Bible stories. But, while i'd love to go to bed, he's usually hugging me, wrapping his arm around my neck, and telling me he loves me. He's quite a cute cuddly. Sometimes Daddy takes him for a drive to put him to sleep, and that usually works pretty well, plus Lazarus loves it.
Here's a little of my evening with him Tuesday.

sibling love

These two love each other so much. Here they are at Costco with Daddy last Saturday.

snow

1/30/13
I'm thankful for a husband who likes winter. At the end of January, I thought we had had all the snow we were going to have for the winter. The kids had a great time playing in it, even though we could still see the grass. I wanted the kids to be able to play in some good  snow, plus, as long as it's cold out, I like having snow. I was so thankful both kids fit into the same coat and snow pants they wore last year. Evalana's wearing her rain boots since i hadn't yet found snow boots for her, and Lazarus is wearing the boots I picked up cheap at the end of winter last year, although they're a little too big. Evalana's coat and pants were a gift from Mo, and Lazarus's coat and pants are from Noah. What a great gift.

Now, for the past week, we've had two giant snows--i think around a foot last Thursday and about a foot yesterday, with a tiny bit of melting in between on Sunday. It's almost done snowing now, so I'm guessing this is probably the last of it until next winter, although it'll be awhile before all this melts, so we'll still have some more playtime out there.
February 21st:
Thursday started with tons of snow, a lot of wind, and watching neighbors get stuck on their way home. Each time, Evalana would tell Daddy, and Daddy would run out with his shovel to help, until he let someone borrow the shovel.

Lazarus asked Daddy to take him out to the cabin to check out the snow.

noah's 6th birthday

On Friday we got up early and headed to Joplin. I have a much more difficult time with a lack of sleep these days, so we may not do any more early trips this pregnancy. in the afternoon the kids and i drove to arkansas, and joshua and meema came in the evening. the kids and i went to Gigi and Aunt Kristen's work since Shelby, Noah, and Curtis were there. Then we had pizza and chicken soup, and the kids and i went to bed. The next morning Daddy helped build some shelves at Gigi's work. The kids and i picked up noah's cake and then went to Noah's birthday party at Fast Lane. Everyone had a lot of fun.
