4 months with baby 2

We're at 16 weeks now, which I think is 4 months. I love being pregnant, especially when it's as easy as this pregnancy has been so far. I think I've just started feeling this baby squirm in my belly. I'm so thankful for this tiny baby and for how well things have been going. The baby is now about the size of an avocado, about 4 1/2 inches long and about 3 1/2 ounces. The baby's even growing tiny toenails and can sense light. We'll have another update on the 16th, after our ultrasound. So far Evalana's insisting the baby is a boy and for some reason she says his name is Bobby or Kevin (a neighbor boy). If you want, you can make your guess about the baby at the link below:

A neighbor brought over this jeep for evalana. She needs some driving lessons, but she loves it.

Old Shawnee Days

We went to the Old Shawnee Days parade at the beginning of June. Unfortunately most of the floats turned out to be advertisements rather than entertainment, but we enjoyed seeing some friends, and Evalana loved standing up and clapping for all the military people and police officers and firefighters.
Maybe someday we can take her to a real parade, like the Swedish Festival that I always went to or the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade that we'll never get to. Aren't there any good parades around here?

concert evening

We went to a free outdoor concert at the beginning of June and had a great evening.

And we went to another concert that Sunday.

And this is how she thought she'd ask to ride home:

peepee dog water?

Some combination of being pregnant, busy with VBS, and trying to comfort little teething girl has me feeling very tired recently. I've caught up on my work hours a little, though, so i'll try to catch up on a few posts. We've been having fun so far this summer!

Happy Father's Day!

So thankful for Evalana and New Baby's amazing dad! Joshua is such a wonderful husband and father. I couldn't imagine a better dad for our kids. Evalana loves her daddy a whole lot!

second trimester with baby 2

We've had a busy week around here, but here's a quick Baby 2 update. We're now 14 weeks (3 1/2 months), and we get to listen to the baby's heartbeat again on Monday. It'll be great to have that little listen to how things are going inside of there with our little baby. I'm looking forward to being able to feel the baby move hopefully soon. And we're really looking forward to the gender reveal on July 16th! Thanks for all your prayers for this little life. The baby is now about 3 1/2 inches from head to bottom and weighs about 1 1/2 ounces. The baby has fingerprints on his or her half-inch long hands which can now grasp, and he or she can make facial expressions. Evalana is so excited about the new baby.
6/21/10 update:
Just got home from my 14-week appointment, and everything looks great! I actually weigh the same as I did with evalana at this stage. I love hearing the baby's heartbeat. One more month to our ultrasound when we get to find out if we have a boy or girl, so you can start entering your guesses at

If you're curious, here were the guesses for Evalana:

Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop

At the beginning of June, we went to a free evening at the Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop. The Mahaffie farmhouse was built in 1865 and is the only stagecoach stop on the santa fe trail that can be visited now. Evalana enjoyed helping make butter, watching a blacksmith make horseshoes, and visiting the sheep, horses, chickens, and mean goat.

little girl bed

At the beginning of June, Joshua converted Evalana's bed into kind of a raised toddler bed connected to our bed (basically a three-sided crib right beside our mattress). Evalana was so excited! She's really been desiring some independence recently, so this seemed like great timing. I've been amazed at how well she sleeps in her bed. And she really loves it. She pretty much refuses to get into our bed for sleeping now.

So excited to sleep in "Wana's own bed!"

First night. Sound asleep and slept great.

First morning, still sleeping great, although with her head on Mommy's bed.

Cutie in her bed in the morning.

Vaughn family reunion

Over Memorial Day weekend, we went to Arkansas for the annual Vaughn family (Joshua's dad's dad's family, I think) reunion. Joshua worked on writing up a genogram, and Evalana especially liked the dogs and her time with Gigi, Papa, Aunt Kristen, and Noah.

grandma kidd's birthday

After getting to spend some time with Mo and then with Tompa and Grandma Nancy and then Grandma Kidd, after work on Tuesday the 25th, we headed to Columbus, Kansas (near Joplin) for Grandma Kidd's surprise 50th birthday party! We got to see lots of family at Great Grandpa and Grandma Johnson's house, and we had a great time. Evalana especially loved playing with her cousins Bailey, Chloe, Noah, and (first cousins once removed) Ruby, baby Jonas, and Tera.

22 months

This little 22-month-old is so much fun! She loves to sit and talk, usually about Jesus, the ocean, or her loved ones. She gives lots of big hugs and kisses and cuddles. She’s really got a sense of humor and keeps me laughing. I love how much she can talk now and express what she’s wanting and even say sweet things like “I love you” and “thank you.” Evalana is very excited about the new baby, even though I keep telling her we have to wait until close to Christmas time. She asks to hold the baby and feed the baby. Pregnancy is difficult enough for a 31-year-old to understand, and it’s way beyond a one-year-old. Evalana gives good prayers for the little baby, though.

Evalana is finally usually down to one good afternoon nap a day, generally around noon-2pm. We're working on her bedtime getting earlier since we'll need have some earlier mornings for VBS in a few weeks. Cute girl is 35” tall (97%) and weighs 35 pounds (over 99%).
