No diabetes!

We had another doctor appointment on Monday, and the glucose test came out normal, so no gestational diabetes. Yea! All of the measurements and everything are looking good so far, too, so that’s good! And now we’re already to appointments every two weeks for the next couple of months. It’s hard to believe that it’s getting so close to her coming. Another exciting thing is that Evalana has eliminated my allergies this spring! We’re having fun attempting to get ready for Evalana. We’re also enjoying learning lots of labor stuff at our Bradley classes. It’s great to be able to pray for this little girl as she keeps growing and developing, and it’ll be exciting to see how everything works out when we get to meet her! This week I'm off to Florida for a short work conference. And today is Samson's 5th birthday :-)

end of the second trimester

This counting is so confusing. Apparently the sixth month is six weeks long. Anyway, we're getting close to the final trimester. I have one more week of my practicum left, two more weeks of class, and then i actually get to finally graduate on May 18th (and then take my MSW licensing exam). I'm looking forward to some time to get ready for Evalana! Joshua's working on his masters in marketing communications at KU-edwards, and he'll just be taking one class over the summer. I've been working at Westside Family Church part-time as a missions assistant, and now I get to transition over to a brand new position on the missions team—coordinator of the adoption/foster/orphan ministry! (You can check out more info at http://westsidefamilychurch.com/reach_foster.html if you want). I think this is going to be an exciting 2008!

She has a name!

After much prayer, we've named our little girl!
Evalana Christabelle Vaughn

Eva is a Hebrew name meaning “life”, and Lana is a Gaelic word meaning “rock”.
Christa means “follower of Christ” and Belle means “beautiful”.
And Vaughn is a Welsh word meaning “small” :-)
We plan to call her Evalana (pronounced "ev ah LAH nah").

How did we come up with this name? Joshua liked the name Evelyn, but it was on the 2007 top 100 list, and we didn't want a common name, so I looked online for names that started with "ev". I found the name Evalina, and we just changed it a little. I have no idea where Joshua came up with the name Christabelle, but I liked it. And Evalana shares part of her middle name with her Great Grandpa Chris Johnson, Aunt Kristen, Aunt Michelle Kristen, and Uncle Alex Christopher.
