Great Grandpa Moser
Last week we found out that Great Grandpa Moser has melanoma (skin cancer) in his brain and lung. He's 90 years old, and he seems to have been ready since my grandma died right before evalana was born, but we're still sad that our time with him here is coming to an end. When the doctor told him the news, he said, "well darn." then he got in the car with my uncle doug, and he said, "if you decide to get rid of the blue van, make sure you take the tools out from underneath the seat before you sell it." very grandpa. we'll try to take a trip to lincoln soon so that lazarus can meet his great grandpa moser.

lazarus's dedication
What a great weekend. Friday Mo took Evalana for a little bit. Then Grandma Kidd came in the afternoon. Saturday afternoon Gigi, Aunt Kristen, Noah, and Nana (great grandma Vaughn) all arrived. It was so great to spend time together. Today we went to church with all of them plus Mo, Grandpa Greg, Aunt Cindy, the Petersons, and great grandma and grandpa Johnson. After the service, we all had lunch together, and then did the child dedication service, along with Uncle Alex and Aunt Bridgett, and Tompa joined by phone from California. Joshua and I stood and promised we'd teach Lazarus about Jesus. Then all of our friends and family stood to promise to support us. We had quite a crowd there who loves Lazarus and encourages us, but we also felt the humongous absence of Papa. It was wonderful to have Schaun pray for our family. Alex and Bridgett recorded the prayer, so I'll post that and pictures soon. Thank you to everyone who helps support us in raising our kids to know God.
i'm still waiting to get some pictures sent to me, so i'll have to post those later.

away from the baby
I had my first time away from Lazarus for the first time in about eleven months. It was strange to be away from him. It was an icky cold day outside, and his nap just happened to time just right so that he fell asleep right before I was needing to leave for my postpartum doctor appointment. And Joshua was working from home, so he just wrapped Lazarus to him, and Lazarus was able to take his nap while I went to my appointment. Lazarus generally sleeps for about three hours at a time, which is kind of nice. He doesn't sleep nearly as long if I lay him down; he likes to be cuddled with someone. Mo took Evalana over to Uncle Alex and Aunt Bridgett's to celebrate Uncle Alex's 27th birthday. So I was able to go to my appointment by myself, and Lazarus didn't need any milk while I was gone.

laid off
When I met with my boss, Matt, and got laid off last week, I took Evalana and Lazarus with me, which Joshua thought was kind of funny. After our meeting, as Evalana, Lazarus, and I were walking out of the church, Evalana said, "That was fun meeting with Pastor Matt!"

back to the blog
We're getting back into our more normal routine around here. Papa's service was last Saturday. We miss him tremendously, but the service was wonderful--a great celebration of his life here and his eternal life with Jesus. We'll have the video of the service available soon. Here's the slideshow of pictures if you want to watch it:
Yesterday I got laid off from my adoption ministry job at Westside. We'll miss the income, and I've loved being on staff at Westside, but it'll be nice to have a little more family time, too. I was only working five hours per week, but even those five hours have been fairly difficult to fit in since Lazarus came along. There are some great volunteers who will take over and make sure the ministry continues, and I'm hoping to help out as a volunteer as well.
I'll get some more good posts up here soon, but both Lazarus and Evalana are doing great and are a joy to spend time with. We've been especially very thankful for our health so far this winter.
Oh, and Lazarus's baby dedication is 1:30pm on Sunday, February 27th, for anyone who wants to come.
