vows

I Joshua, realize that these words I am saying to you now, are given all weight, power, and meaning by the Living God. I acknowledge that He alone saw this moment before the foundation of the world, and it is by His Name these vows I make to you now are ordained and will forever be sustained.
I Joshua take you Rachel to be my wife. From this moment forward, in a marriage rooted in Christ, I promise God and I promise you that by Him, I will love you as he loves the church. I will strive to place you before myself in all things, to fiercely guard the unity of our marriage, and to cherish you as His precious gift to me. I will be faithful to you and you alone. I will pray for you and encourage you in your service to the King. I will lead us by God’s Word, and be committed to faithful and loving study of it. I swear to defend all of you with all of me. I will be your friend, your lover, and your companion for the rest of my life.

I realize that these words I am saying to you now are given all weight, power, and meaning by the Living God. I acknowledge that He alone saw this moment before the foundation of the world, and it is by His Name these vows I make to you now are ordained and will forever be sustained.
I, Rachel, take you, Joshua, to be my husband, from this moment forward, in a marriage rooted in Christ. I promise God and I promise you that, by Him, I will…love you and respect you. I will admire you as the amazing man God created. I will place God first and you before myself in all things. I will surrender everything to protect the unity of our marriage, and I will be truthful with you and faithful to you. I will serve you, pray for you, and support you in your service to our Lord. I will encourage our continuously growing relationship with God. I will be your friend, your lover, and your companion for the rest of my life.
